Cite a podcast episode in Chicago (author-date)
Podcast episodes need both the host and the episode title in Chicago (author-date), plus the show name in the container slot. Chicago (author-date) (17th ed.) treats them as audio works, which means italics on the show, quotes on the episode, and a URL to the episode page rather than the show feed.
Chicago (author-date) rules for a podcast episode
- Host name is the author; if a producer is credited, add their role in brackets.
- Episode title is in quotes; the show name is italicized as the container.
- Include the episode number after the title if the show numbers its episodes.
- Specify the medium as [Audio podcast episode] in square brackets.
- Use the URL to the episode page, not the show's homepage or RSS feed.
- Specify the medium: 'Podcast audio, MM:SS.'
