Cite a podcast episode in APA 7
Podcast episodes need both the host and the episode title in APA 7, plus the show name in the container slot. APA 7 (2020) treats them as audio works, which means italics on the show, quotes on the episode, and a URL to the episode page rather than the show feed.
APA 7 rules for a podcast episode
- Host name is the author; if a producer is credited, add their role in brackets.
- Episode title is in quotes; the show name is italicized as the container.
- Include the episode number after the title if the show numbers its episodes.
- Specify the medium as [Audio podcast episode] in square brackets.
- Use the URL to the episode page, not the show's homepage or RSS feed.
- Use [Audio podcast episode] as the description in square brackets.
